Why Turmeric is Good for Dogs?

Turmeric Curcumin has many health benefits for dogs.

Do you have an aging dog? Do your dog's stiff joints make it hard to get around or enjoy life?
If so, a natural anti-inflammatory for dogs, like turmeric curcumin, can help your dog lead a happier, healthier life.

Inflammation in Dogs

To start off with, let's answer the question: why is an anti-inflammatory important to dog owners?

While some pooches are infamous for their couch potato tendencies, dogs are, by and large, an active species. They run, hop, and jump around often.

Each of these actions stresses their joints and, over time, results in inflammation that can reduce your dog's mobility. And cause quite a bit of discomfort.

And it's not just senior dogs that can suffer. Bigger dogs will start experiencing joint and mobility issues sooner in life. So can sporting dogs or any dog that engages in repetitive activities (think agility training and jogging).

Turmeric and Dogs

Because of its natural anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric is good for dogs that suffer from any number of ailments in which inflammation is a leading cause of discomfort.

Research has shown that dogs given turmeric for relief of stiff joints experienced reduced pain, while also regaining much of their mobility and flexibility.

Turmeric supplements for dogs may also help prevent the cumulative effects of inflammation over time. You don't have to wait for your dogs to be in pain to add turmeric to their diet.

But its anti-inflammatory effect isn't the only reason turmeric is good for dogs.

It's also an antioxidant, an important defense against free radicals. (According to the Mayo Clinic, free radicals play a role in heart disease, cancer, and other diseases.) Free radicals are generated as our bodies break down food, during physical activity, and by environmental pollutants.

Like humans, dogs generate free radicals on a daily basis and will suffer from the damage they cause. This is particularly true in senior dogs with heart disease. (One in ten dogs will develop heart disease in their lifetime.)

Because of its antioxidant properties, turmeric chews for dogs can help reduce the risk of heart disease as your dog ages.
